Sleepy men

This afternoon, Jake and the kids all went down for a nap around 1pm, and after just an hour, Isaiah woke up. He was clearly still tired so I asked him if he wanted to go sleep with daddy. I didn't think he would actually sleep, but a few minutes later, I walked in to find Isaiah snuggled in and snoring quite loudly. These two didn't wake up until almost 4:30.

Friday Giggles

This morning the girls wore similar dresses again and Emelyn asked if we could take a picture to send to daddy (You know, things like this are super important to 4 year old girls…)

So we started taking pictures and both girls were being quite silly…

Then we added a brother who couldn’t care less about clothes (unless they involve pockets, but that is another story…) He does, however, love getting his picture taken…

Somehow after about 15 pictures on my phone, not a single one had everyone smiling, but EVERY picture had someone’s tongue outside of their mouth… why is that?!?

All joking aside, it’s been a fun day (other than being at the doctor’s office trapped in a waiting room for over an hour with all three kids… again, an entirely different story….) Have a good weekend everyone!

Guess who’s 9 months old?!? Our sweet little girl is growing way too fast. Here’s a summary of Ruth at 9 months:

  • 21 lbs, 10 oz (90th percentile)
  • 27.75 inches (50th percentile)
  • 2 teeth
  • Thick blondish/redish hair that is long enough to need clipped back
  • Size 4 diapers
  • Size 12 or 18 month clothes
  • 2 naps/day; goes to bed around 6:30pm-7:00pm and sleeps about 12 hours.
  • Doesn’t crawl forward but scoots, rolls and crawls backwards to get where she wants to be; doesn’t pull up on anything.
  • Loves to swim; when we put her in the water in her baby tube she leans forward to reach the water and starts kicking her feet and moving the water with her hands to make her tube move. (Below is a picture of her “swimming” yesterday:)Ruthpool
  • Still nurses 4-5 times/day but also eat 3-4 table meals a day too.
  • Says 3-4 words and is starting to repeat sounds she hears.
  • Very laid back, smiley and happy!

Baseball Fun

On June 14th, we went to the Arkansas Natural’s Baseball game. It was faith and family night so we were able to enjoy great music before the game, but it was also H.O.T. outside. The kids played in bounce houses during the concert. Somehow I didn’t get any pictures of Isaiah. He actually sat and watched the game. Sporting events are the rare times he doesn’t move, squirm whine or request food every 20 minutes. Smile

Matching

Ever since the day we told Emelyn we were expecting Ruth, she was hoping for a sister so that they could be "matching girls." The excitement of matching clothes is still there and yesterday they wore matching dresses, and she asked me to take their picture. Isaiah got in on the action but woke up on an ornery streak (that lasted ALL. DAY. LONG.) You can probably tell from the pictures:

Cardboard Boat Races

Last Sunday, we ventured to a nearby creek for our church’s 3rd annual Float or Flounder. Families, friends and Sunday School groups designed cardboard boats to complete for various awards including fastest boat and the winner of a demo derby. After the entertaining races and demo derby, we enjoyed a fun BBQ and games. I really hope we get around to designing a boat next year!

If you ever tell a 2 year old boy NOT to pick his nose, he most likely WILL pick it.

Johnson Days

Every June, our little town holds a one day car show/craft fair/kids fest to celebrate the day Johnson became a town. The day was beautiful and we spent a few hours looking at cars, eating lunch, visiting the petting zoo and bounce houses and looking at craft booths.

Rainy Days

In May we had some rainy weeks which meant lots of time inside. Ruth is so laid back - she doesn’t care where she is:

Emelyn loves all things “crafty” so one day we made a box out of craft sticks:

Isaiah wanted to be part of the action so he sat next to Emelyn and scribbled:

She decided her stamp rings would be the perfect thing for her new box:

By the end of the raining weeks we started to run out of things to do… until we decided to row… it kept the kids occupied for a couple extra days:
