Snacks at the park

What better place to have a snack than at a park surrounded by beautiful trees!
And because of all the time at the park, both Isaiah and Emelyn are still asleep which means Ruth gets to play with the play dishes all by herself!
She is thoroughly enjoying getting first dibs on the dishes, proudly showing each to me and then choosing where to throw each one.

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday we went to a local fruit stand that has pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins!

After everyone picked out the two pumpkins they wanted, we went into the stand to see if there were any other goodies we wanted:

Our final purchases. Each kid picked two small pumpkins/gourds, and we also grabbed some freshly dug sweet potatoes and jelly beans for the drive home:

Since no one wanted a big pumpkin, we are enjoying our finds on our table instead of our porch:

Beauty and the beast

On Sunday, October 20th Emelyn and I went to the broadway musical, "Beauty and the Beast." We were both counting down for this day to come!
The view from our seats:
Such a fun night!

Tonsils and Adenoids...

..Are gone!
On October 21st, we left our house at 5:45am to head to the hospital. This sweet guy had no idea what was about to happen:
All checked in, waiting for his turn:
The sweet nurses were so kind to him. They gave him a cars coloring book, crayons, and stickers to pass the time.
Not long after, he was given medicine to calm him down, which ended up making him loopy, very silly, and eventually knocked him out.
A little over 2 hours later he came out of the OR and was a little emotionally overwhelmed and kept crying "momma, oh momma! Hold me please; I hurt." Such a sweet time; I think we were as grateful to see him as he was to see us. We held him close as we were wheeled to his hospital room.
Our nurse asked him if he wanted anything and he smiled and said "Macaroni and cheese?" She sent someone to get him exactly what he wanted. As the day progressed he ate 5 cups of yogurt, part of a Popsicle and some Gatorade.
He took a good long nap too... Probably the quietest he's breathed while asleep since birth.
After sleeping he wanted to walk a little. His nurse have him stickers for walking... After that, he didn't want to go back to his room!
He came home at 7:30pm after spending the day in the hospital. He has been doing well at home but needs a lot of bribery to keep him eating and drinking like he needs to. That and he still needs Tylenol every 4 hours day and night. He wakes up at least once at night screaming in pain (which wakes EVERYONE up.) Hopefully by this time next week he'll be doing much better!

All boy

This weekend I did a little shopping for both Christmas and Isaiah’s birthday, and I quickly realized 1) I know very little about boy toys and 2) that Isaiah has very few things that are geared towards boys. I saw aisles of super heros, legos, and all kinds of train stuff and I didn’t know where to begin, nor what he might like.

I do know that he loves cars and basketballs though; here he is playing with some of his favorites:

I’m not sure what’s up with his smile lately, he has been doing this since having tonsil/breathing problems… maybe that’s just coincidence though? Either way, it’s sweet.

Ruth is bound to be a advanced at something. Emelyn is constantly trying to teach her to say new words, and Isaiah invests times in teaching her to dribble a basketball:

She doesn’t have the hang of it yet, but she sure loves playing with Isaiah!

Baby Doll

Isaiah has enjoyed teasing Ruth lately by taking her beloved baby doll. Thankfully, Isaiah is very sweet and gentle with Ruth – he lays there and lets her poke, hit and pull at him and he just takes it with a smile.

Ruth is learning facial parts and loves pointing out nose’s, eyes and mouths:

If you could hear this picture you would hear Ruth whining:

Sweet Sisters

Last week Emelyn asked if she could try and feed Ruth (sadly, she has never done that before!) I said yes, and these two girls could not stop laughing! I’m not sure what was so funny… Ruth thought it was hilarious that Emelyn was feeding her, which made Emelyn laugh back. Needless to say, it took a while for Ruth to eat her applesauce but I think she forgot she was hungry once they started laughing.

The girls also each have princess jammies and Emelyn asked for a picture:

It seems that the higher the ponytail, the bigger the smiles and laughs:
