Baking Time!

This past weekend we got out a cupcake kit the kids received for Christmas and had a fun afternoon of baking and decorating. Funniest quote:
Me: "Who wants to make Frozen cupcakes?!?"
Isaiah: (In a VERY WHINY VOICE.)  "What? Ugh! I don't like frozen cupcakes!! (Insert tears...) They hurt my teeth and are too cold!"
Girls: BLANK STARES. (Because isn't the movie "frozen" always on everyone's mind?!?)

Elizabeth: One Month Old

Since we decided that until Elizabeth has a family of her own, we will treat her as our own, I finally decided to go ahead and write her one month summary. God has answered so many prayers of ours on her behalf this past month that we can’t help but rejoice over her 1 month check up! We have prayed over bottles to help her grow and stay healthy; we have rejoiced over poopy diapers, and now, one month later, she is right on track:

  • 8 lbs, 12 oz (5lb, 6 oz at birth)
  • 20 inches (17.5 inches at birth)
  • Size newborn diapers and clothes (but close to size 1/0-3 month!)
  • Eats every 3 hours during the day
  • Goes one 4-5 hour stretch at night usually. (And yes, we get excited about that! Ha!)
  • She interacts with us and makes eye contact now; she also turns and responds to our voices.
  • She grasps our finger while eating her bottle.
  • She loves to snuggle and be held close.
  • We cant share any pictures so I will briefly describe her: BEAUTIFUL.
  • Really… that one word sums her up – perfect the way God made her to be. She actually resembles Ruth at this age a lot. We have a picture of Ruth at 3 weeks on our fridge and multiple people have commented that Elizabeth looks just like that picture. With her eyes open a lot more now, we now see that she has beautiful, deep blue eyes. As clear as Ruth’s just a shade or too richer.

Happy one month little lady! What a privilege it has been to have you this month!

Indoor track meet

Last night, Emelyn, Isaiah and I went to the Arkansas/Texas Indoor Track Dual. Our friend, Kaitlin, runs the 3000 mt race so we wanted to watch her but enjoyed watching the hurdlers, sprinters and pole vaulters too (Isaiah informed us that he's going to jump over that stick when he's a daddy someday.)
Kaitlin won her race in 9:37. It was very impressive to watch her compete! The kids grabbed a magnet with her home schedule and we're planning to attend the next meet in two weeks.
