18 Months and counting!

Oh my... this little sassy spunky lady is 18 months old today!
She loves being outside and so we weren't surprised when she stood by the door bright and early this morning asking "outside?"
Getting ready to go down the slide:
The play house is her favorite place to go outside (probably because momma doesn't like her being in it, afraid she'll fall off the stairs/slide or out the play house opening...)
Can you see how proud of herself she is?!?

Ruth at 18 months:
  • 18m-2t clothes, 5/6 shoes, size 4 diapers
  • 14 teeth with two more on the way
  • Adding new words weekly. This week she added "I hungry" Which is usually screamed from the pantry door.
  • She's also started consistently telling me "Momma, I poop" before she has a dirty diaper. Not sure what to do with that. I finally let her sit on the potty once yesterday and she thought she was BIG.STUFF. I don't think we're ready to think about potty training though!
  • She's also started counting... when she hears Emelyn or Isaiah counting to play hide and seek, Ruth counts right along with them (up to ten... then she yells "ready, not, here come!") She's also started yelling "Marco!" at me if she can't find me.. I'm starting to think we play too much hide and seek around here!!!
  • She loves being outside and often brings me her shoes and jacket with a sweet smile and "ou-side momma?"
  • Speaking of that sweet smile, she's starting to use it to get her way. She walks up with a precious smile, sometimes with a tilted head with the sweetest little "peas?" If I tell her no, she quickly switches from charm to demanding by straightening her legs and arms, arching her back and yelling "NNOOOOO!!" Followed by her repeating what she asked for through clenched teeth. I'm not sure when she went from being our sweet little Ruth to being a toddler that knows the word "No" but it has definitely happened. I'm not gonna lie though... she's so stinkin cute (not to mention my baby!) and it's hard to get on that sweet girl. However, the time has come to start disciplining and training, because she knows she's disobeying many times and will do exactly what we tell her not to do with a big grin, but immediately stops when she sees that we mean business.
Ruth Marie, you are such a joy and treat to parent! You love your brother and sister and want to be with them at all times. You love your baby dolls and spend your days rocking, feeding and wrapping them in blankets. The moment you hear the garage door open you start doing a happy dance, scream "DADDY!!!" and run to the back door, waiting for daddy to open it. You laugh and smile so hard I think your cheeks just might split open. While you love seeing daddy come home from work, when you wake you always ask for mommy and want to sit and snuggle with her for a while. It takes you 5-10 minutes of snuggling to be ready to get up and play or talk and that's okay with this mom. You love to eat and are suddenly hungry anytime you see any food. Multiple times a day you are at the fridge asking for an apple or milk. Your talking is improving daily (and I definitely think you are talking better and earlier than your siblings at this age.) We love you sweet daughter!!

NWA Fan Fest

Last Saturday we went to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals' FanFest. Here are the kids in the dugout:

Isaiah also got to meet Spiderman... he tried really hard to be brave for a picture:
Emelyn was not scared of the mascots this year, saying she knew they were really just people dressed up in costumes. :) Love that girl.

Joining rooms

We moved Isaiah into Ruth's room today and were pleasantly surprised at how well everything fit. They did great for naps too - almost better than usual. Ruth definitely likes having her big brother in her room!! Tonight when it was bed time they both ran to Isaiah's bed and begged to sleep together. (It was a fun tantrum to deal with when we said no!) Later I stood outside their door and heard their sweet conversations. Ruth was yelling "Momma! I 'unt out!" And Isaiah would sweetly say "No no Rue Rue, you have to stay in your bed, now close your eyes and go nigh-night, Kay?" They continued chattering for some time and we had to keep checking the video monitor to make sure Isaiah didn't sneak into her crib (or give her toys!)
Yes, Isaiah sleeps on top of his comforter in a cars sleeping bag on his Toy Story pillow... The sleeping bag seems to be the only way to keep him in his bed.

Phone pictures

I'm cleaning off my phone and found these pics from the last month. It's funny to look back and see via pictures what our crazy weather has been like. Warm and sunny one week, snuggling inside the next due to snow... Then back outside the next week and back in again the next!

Ruth loves going outside... Especially the tree house!
She's also getting more teeth so some days are spent snuggling with her paci and babies instead of doing anything else and that's okay :)
Last week snow was coming on Sunday so church was moved to Saturday night. After church we went to braums where Isaiah licked every drop of ice cream from his cup... Literally!
Staying warm, watching Cinderella 3 with some sweet neighbors!
Who needs toys when you can stack pantry items instead?!?
Twirling and singing at the barbershop:
While Isaiah gets a haircut:
Ruth and her sweet friend Lucy - these girls share a birthday and are just hours apart in age:

Sweet Cousins

We got to keep sweet Payten a few weeks ago and these two cousins had fun! Neither wanted to go to bed until the other was in bed which made for some fun times. :) precious girls!!
