10 Months

On July 15th, Ruth became a 10 month old. She changed a lot over the last month. Most notably, she now crawls super fast, stands up to things on her own, and repeats a lot of sounds.

Trying to escape the camera; I know it’s blurry but I love her happy demeanor!

Ruth is really drawn to Isaiah. In fact, she says something that sounds just like “Isaiah!” when she sees him. If he’s on the floor, she’s crawling all over him, and like a good brother, Isaiah just goes with the flow. Ruth’s not a big fan of Emelyn right now and fights her never ending hugs and kisses. In fact, Ruth usually slaps and screams at Emelyn when Emelyn approaches her for a hug. Confused smile

She spends a lot of time playing at her music table! I have no idea how she can stand like this!

New Patio

Last week we had our back patio fixed. It sloped a little towards our house due to some sinking, which meant water sat on our patio after rains– not a good thing. We finally called to have it fixed, and the kids had 8 full hours of entertainment as the men worked on it.

The day before it was fixed it rained, and you can see how water sat on the patio:

After then men did all of the prep work, the cement truck arrived – this was an exciting event for two kiddos at our house; Jake came home over lunch and took the kids outside to watch:

Here the men are in process as Jake and the kids watched:

Once they starting filling the mold with cement, the kids came inside to watch the men work:

And here it is all done! We ended up extending it 2.5 feet into the yard too:

And we couldn’t have wet cement without leaving our mark! Here are our handprints:

And the best part is that it has since rained, and no water sat on our patio afterwards. Yay!

Camera Pictures

I find myself taking more pictures with my phone than the camera these days. They aren’t great quality, but something is better than nothing, right? Here are some pictures from the last few weeks:

Ruth with her sweet friend, Katherine. They are 4 days apart in age and so so cute!! Jake helped K’s daddy put together a swing set and these girls sat on the blanket to supervise (Ruth was singing/talking in the picture Confused smile)

On June 30th, I took the kids to a Natural’s baseball game. Isaiah loves games. When we arrived, I stopped to talk to a friend we saw, and he started begging and screaming “I wanna watch baseball!!” as he pulled my arm to go. Emelyn likes to go too, but more because of the food and play area.

Also, in the last week, we finally decided to try potty-training. I wasn’t crazy about it, but Isaiah has been telling us he wants to go on the potty, so we decided it was time. He’s been doing great so far. It was like Christmas morning here when I came home with Lightning McQueen undies. He regularly tells me not to worry because he won’t pee on Lightning. (Probably because every hour I ask if he needs to go potty because I don’t want to clean up accidents!! Ha!)

Saturday morning the kids spotted a turtle by our backdoor. They were in awe and couldn't  believe how little it was. I forget that the only turtles they’ve seen are at zoos (and very LARGE there) or in books.

Our new friend:

They were a little scared to be by it:

Ruth also had a tu-tu party Saturday morning. Being at the party with all the other girls her age made me realize again how laid back and happy our little princess is! I think she was the only one not screaming or pulling at her tutu.

This is what I get to end my day with every night – so many smiles and sweet jabbers from this cutie after filling her tummy for the night! This is probably one of my favorite stages  – sleeps 11 hours at night and 3 during the day – super happy when awake and doesn’t talk back yet. She’s been getting up between 6 and 6:30 so we’ve been enjoying a walk – just the two of us – to start our day which has been a special time.

Emelyn had her three month check up this week for her eyes. She has made some great improvements and because of that, we will go back again in 3 months to track the change again – if she continues to improve at this rate, we may need to change her rx at that time. I have to say that she has done great these last 3 months about wearing her glasses without complaining. So proud of her! When she was in this chair, she said she felt like Alice from Alice in Wonderland:

One of Ruth’s new faces… she likes to scrunch up her nose and snort, then starts giggling at herself because she knows she’s being silly. So funny…

Fourth of July

The week before the 4th of July, the kids got a package full of patriotic goodies from Grandpa and Grandma C and included was a flag for our house! Emelyn helped Jake install it one evening in her jammies after Isaiah and Ruth were in bed:

On the 4th we BBQ’d with some friends. The evening was exceptionally nice, as was the conversations and time with friends!

We left the BBQ around 8 to put the kids to bed. To summarize the kid’s feeling of the Fourth of July, Ruth slept through the noise, Isaiah was scared of the noise and begged to go to bed, and Emelyn stayed up to watch the many displays surrounding our house and thought it was magical – especially the floating lanterns that flew over our house. I’ve already found floating lanterns to light and release for her birthday. Smile

Sweet memories

I just downloaded pictures off of our camera in hopes of catching up the blog again – the first pictures were these:

One hot afternoon during the first week of July the kids asked for a popsicle because there were “so hot” a few minutes later, I glanced outside to find them sitting together, giggling, and eating their cool treat. Sweet moments.
