Soon and very soon

The last month or so, Isaiah, Ruth and I have been going to a local assisted living center to join their weekly church services on Wednesday. I'm not going to lie, I have to give them a big pep talk before we go, reminding them that these grandmas and grandpas miss their grandkids and encourage them to hug, talk to and help the grandmas. And I usually tell them if they sit still and quiet during the devotion they can have a piece of candy afterwards. All that said, I had hoped we would be a blessing to the residents there, but instead, we have been blessed by them. Isaiah and Ruth enjoy helping "lead" singing when it's a song they know and get excited to go now. (The grandmas with pockets full of candy there helps!) And there's something incredibly special about watching people sing "Soon and very soon," and "When we all get to heaven" with eyes filled with tears and a joyful, peaceful look on their face. Such a beautiful reminder that life is not about position, gain, wealth, or status... When you're close to heaven, relationships matter not things. Others are more important than self. This precious group genuinely care for one another and prayed for each other's needs. And every single one of them came to me, with no hesitations, and asked me if I knew and loved Jesus, and they used every opportunity to tell my kids about the amazing love of Jesus. One told Isaiah that she was in pain and asked him to pray for her, and then she proceeded to tell him how to talk to God, and reminded him God can do anything. And amazingly, neither kid is shy while we're here. Ruth smiles, hugs and talks to them right along with Isaiah. Anyways, enough on that... Here are some pictures from today. I took them to show Jake, but wanted to write this down as a reminder for me down the road too.

Pumpkin Carving and Outside Movie

Tonight we got together with our neighbors to carve pumpkins, share favorite fall foods and then watched “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” The fellowship and beautiful weather was the best part of all though!

Happy birthday Emelyn!

On October 12th, Emelyn turned 6. We had a really fun day at home celebrating her. Isaiah, Ruth and K were super excited on her birthday morning and couldn’t wait for Emelyn to open their gifts.

Emelyn was very thankful Isaiah gave her the Anna Barbie:

Vanzant’s Pumpkin Patch

A couple of Saturday’s ago, we met some friends at a local pumpkin patch. The kids had fun picking out pumpkins and the dad’s had the great idea to use the wagons to ride down hills. Smile

Emelyn’s 6 year old pictures

Emelyn will be 6 tomorrow and we spent today doing some of the things she loves. After playing with some friends at Chuck E Cheese, I took Emelyn to get a manicure and since she was done before me, we asked them to fix her hair too (straightened and half back in a fish tail braid.) Then we went to JcPenneys to have her 6 year old pictures taken. I don’t know when she grew up. Here are a few of my favorites:

After pictures we also did some “window shopping” which is so much fun with a little girl that loves girly stuff and all things pretty! She made a list of things she wants to save her money for now.
